I graduate from university tomorrow morning.

And I dunno how to do my silly hood to show the colors. ARGH....

Seriously, don't rain. I know you are forecast to. But just don't, or Imma come up there and tear apart those clouds by hand.

omgosh so scared

I have an irrational fear of tornadoes. But I thought these tornado watches were a little, hmm, let me just say I wasn't taking them very seriously. But apparently there was a tornado just east of Keysville. That's barely 15 miles from here. Ah~ Now there's a huge line spanning the entire length of Virginia and only a county away from Charlotte. Gosh. I love and hate thunderstorms. Tornado watch was posted early and it ran out at 9 PM, but it was renewed and it expires at 4 AM. I think I'm going to go listen to my iPod, read and ignore the storm. Why do storms scare people? It's bizarre.
whatxsarahxsaid: ([bill] yes??)
It's been raining and cloudy since...I don't even know when. Sometime last week, I'd wager. Monday we had a tornado watch and now we're under another tornado watch. I love rain. I love drizzly, misty, foggy, cloudy weather. But I'm ready for a sunny day.

My mom and I went shopping today in Lynchburg and we got the cutest shoes and skirt for graduation on Saturday.

Speaking of graduation on Saturday, PLEASE DON'T RAIN. I want my graduation out on the mall, not in the gym. It hasn't been held in the gym in many many years. So please, don't rain.

Graduation is in 3 days, and my birthday is in ten. Wow. Things are really creeping up fast.

zahlreich zu tun damit kleine zeit....

I had my last class ever today. It was very bitter sweet. I was looking forward to the day being over, because that meant my presentation was over. But I'm not looking forward to graduating (Providing I don't fail anything).

Presentation went well, I guess. I got a lot of good comments from my classmates. A lot of "Great presentation! =D" and "Maybe a little too much information, but great info!" Which I knew. I had to rush through my last three slides. But I finished. I didn't really explain my thesis too well, because I mostly focused on the background. A girl wrote on her critique asking if I could email her my presentation because she wants to do some more research on my topic! I was so flattered. The beginning of Communism in China is really interesting, though. *nods*

Exams are next week. I have two on Monday I'm not prepared for at all. So I'm going to be spending all my time this weekend doing that and fixing up my thesis, which is also due on Monday. I have to read a book and write a review about it for Monday. I'm going to try and read it all tonight. It's a shorter book, about 150 pages, so I should be able to do it. But seriously, so much to do so little time to do it.

Let's all say "HELLO SPRING!" It was gorgeous today. There's a smell of flowers everywhere and even though it was a little hot, it was so lovely.

I present my senior thesis tomorrow.

I got an A on my Folklore presentation last week. Maybe my luck will hold and I'll do well tomorrow.

But I have ten minutes and twelve slides and a lot of information. And I'm still getting over my cold and my voice is still weak.

And it's my last day of classes ever. I'm so sad.

Your Love Life is Like The Princess Bride
"Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind."

For you, love is like a fairy tale - albeit a fairly twisted one.
You believe romance is all about loyalty, fate, and a good big of goofy fun.

Your love style: Idealistic yet quirky

Your Hollywood Ending Will Be: Perfectly romantic

I really really need my FList's help.

I'm writing a folklore paper on The Little Red Riding Hood and I'm collecting data of various versions/tellings. So I was REALLY HOPING that I can take like, two - five minutes of ANYONE'S time. I just need to know how you heard the story (you're personal version). I've found what she's bringing the grandmother varies, and the ending. Comments will be screened so if anyone actually does respond, their resonses will not influence you. After that, all I need is your name (first is fine - or if you don't want to do that, that's ok), age, and nationality.

My paper is due Tuesday, and I really don't have as much data as I would like. So, I'd love your help.

Because Lambda Alpha meetings are full of crack, I must post this that came up last night:

Baxter Conners
Vice President
Company 203
203 Wall St.
New York, NY 10015

Dear Mr. Conners,

Thank you for your letter of February 17th. After careful
consideration I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your
refusal to offer me employment with your company.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an
unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and
promising field of candidates it is impossible for me to accept all

Despite Company 203's outstanding qualifications and previous
experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not
meet my needs at this time. Therefore I will initiate employment with
your firm immediately following graduation. I look forward to seeing you

I will be doing this in the future.

It is now 4:14 AM and I have just finished my French Revolution paper!!!!! I can actually get some sleep!!!! I just have one more read through and then I'm finished. I'm actually a little proud of this paper. I'm not sure how good it is, but I like it.

I realized earlier that both my history research papers were on retreats. (Senior thesis - Mao's Long March; French Rev - Napoleon's retreat during the Russian Campaign of 1812.) I do wonder what that says about me. When researching my French Rev paper, I read some pretty sad things, though. In one diary, the author wrote that, "I could not get even a piece of meat and my hunger became too violent, I took along a pot I carried, stationed myself beside a horse that was being shot, and caught up the blood from its breast. I set this blood on the fire, let it coagulate, and ate the lumps without salt." So sad. And gross. I would have perished long ago.

Elizabeth gets really crazy playing video games. I swear. My favorite quotes during break as she played:

"I'm going to start cursing in a minute."

"something something J/K!!!"

"you always talk while I fight monsters."

"I'M HOT."

"I'm going to die."

I just had my first hair cut/trim in over two years. My hair feels SOOO short. Though, it's still long and only about two inches or so were actually cut off. But still. The ends feel so much better now the split-ends are gone. It doesn't feel any lighter. But it never does because I have such fine hair.

I have so much to do this week, even though it's spring break. (Awww, my last spring break ever. sehr kläglich ;_;)

Things to accomplish:
1.) Dr. Coles' book review. (Must finish the last two-hundred pages of book first.)
2.) French Revolution research paper.
3.) Senior thesis first draft
4.) Folklore research paper
5.) Eye appointment Friday (yay, new frames, I think. I don't know the style I should do...)

On the Lord Raglan's hero scale, Harry Potter got an 8. Apparently, according to Dr. Jordan, Lincoln got all 22 points. (I assume if you mix and match with Von Hahn's and Rank's scales.)

I spent most of the day studying for my folklore exam. And my brain has officially died. Maybe I can do better on this exam to make up for my abysmal American Rev exam.

But all I can remember is that we associate the number three with many many many things. So many things come in threes, it's ridiculous. I hope one of the twenty essay questions is "List ten things that come in threes." I would ace that one.

In French Rev, Dr. Munson walked in and asked how many people were sick. Several rose their hands. Then he said "You can tell Sarah's sick because she's wearing her ski cap." Haha, just cold Dr. Munson.

Lost was cool tonight. I missed the first eleven minutes of it because I'm not used to remembering I actually watch something on TV again.

epic fail

After searching around for what's wrong with my iPod, I've found I have the "White screen of death" syndrome. I'm currently trying to restore it in hopes that that will work. If not, there's nothing I can do but send it off to get fixed and have a new LCD put in it. Which costs an arm and a leg, so won't be doing that. Almost four years and I've never had to do a restore. Sigh. Please please please work. I'm tired of not having a working iPod. I have a power walking class, and music makes it pass faster and makes it more bearable.

When Dr. Coles handed out the exam today, every fact flew out of my head and I stared at the exam in blank confusion. There's no way I got better than a C. I hope I can still make it out of that class with an A. That would be a nice parting gift, I think. I know I didn't do well with the fill in the blank and multiple choice. Identify....that's up in the air still. On the fourth and last one, (which I skipped to do my essay) I had to fly through it. No way I got above a four on that one. Essay question.... hahahaha. "Discuss the major acts, events and players until the Tea Act". I might have mentioned two major figures. But I got all the acts down...in the right order. Maybe 80% right on the dates, haha. Ugh. Not looking forward to getting that thing back.

Lambda Alpha, which I usually enjoy, was great tonight. A new guy was there today, and was really nice and funny. Mary was back. Even though she was supposed to graduate last semester. I feel bad, but I'm glad she was still there, haha. One complaint though. As much as I love Dr. Jordan. He wouldn't stop grabbing my elbow when talking to me or putting his hand on my shoulder. I don't mind when people do that, but I was just in a mood for it and it felt really awkward. I kept inching over to my right (because he was sitting next to me, kinda. We were at a table and he was to my diagonal left) and almost ended up in Dan's lap. Bah~ oh well. We didn't even get to discuss Kelly's article. We're going to do that on the third of March's meeting.

Sigh. iPod doesn't look fixed so far. And I don't have $300 for a new one. I'm so upset.

Dear Wintry-Mix Precipitation God:

I would like that mix you're supposed to bring. Please don't turn to rain. However, if you're going to bring ice, I would like for it to be either a lot (enough to close the university down) or keep the roads clear. I don't want to drive on icy roads. Please bring the former.

Sincerely yours,

On a side note: I got the first episode of Mei-chan no Shitsuji to play on my computer. SO MUCH LOVE. I love it. I love it. I love it. I really hope the other episodes are as good. I giggled and snickered through the whole episode. Except the end, where I got teary. Mukai Osamu with white hair really reminds me of the other swindler in Liar Game. Tanimura Mitsuki (Aww, I really warmed up to her in Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu) seems like a really really interesting character, and how different! And Mizushima Hiro is just awesome. So is Sato Takeru (!!!!). I didn't know Iwasa Mayuko was in it. <3 I love her. She was my favorite character in Ganbatte Ikimasshoi. I could go on and on about it.

And apparently I'm bored.

I went through my first car wash today. Yep. Forgot to roll up my window as I was going in and got blasted with water. I really need to start thinking before acting.

Today was my first lecture for my phed class. My health class = scariest class full of doom. I'm going to die at a young age. And also, apparently out of 300 people per semester, only 5 or so people get A's. I will be one of those people.

The nicest lady was behind me in Wal*Mart today. That just made my day.

Laptop is broken. iPod is 90% dead. No music on desktop, and I don't feel like burning CDs on here. Also, it's lagging, so I can't watch any dramas. Sigh. So it's sitting in silence, or listening to the radio, while studying.

Time to go change into comfy cloths and start my readings. I have to write up a prospectus for my French Revolution for next Monday, but I can't think of a topic to do. Ahhh....

3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post that sentence along with these instructions in your LiveJournal.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Some guy parked OBSCENELY close to my car today at the library. I have no idea how they parked the way they did. It was at SUCH an angle. It was so bizarre. I'm SO surprised he didn't take off my mirror when parking. But it was so close, I had to call my dad to help me back out and not hit it. And what's more is that he didn't have a commuter decal, and we were parked in commuter parking (this is a sure-fire way to make me mad because Longwood has very limited commuter parking). I was almost tempted to wait for him and give him a piece of my mind. But I'm too much of a wuss, and I just wanted to come home. Bah.
